Our Expert review of the VanTop Nimbal M3 Smartphone Gimbal

What we think of the design:

What a brilliant bit of kit this stabilizer is! The grip is ergonomically designed so it’s comfortable to hold and the controls aren’t complicated. It is as you’d expect if you did a Google search for smartphone gimbals. It gives you the impression it costs far more than it actually does, especially when more recognised brands such as DJI start in the hundreds of pounds.

What’s good about it?

VanTop took some time when putting this product together and what they have delivered is proper value for money. The gimbal packs in loads of features like object tracking, face tracking, inception mode and the Hitchcock Effect. These are just a few of the features packed in. The app is also really user friendly and is available on Android and iOS devices. VanTop also throw in a hard case and tripod attachment. These items obviously don’t cost huge amounts but they are included for free, and everyone likes something for free. Lastly, it’s worth mentioning how easy it is to set up the VanTop Gimbal with easy to follow instructions. We tested it on a Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus, which balanced with the aid of the counterweight and got some excellent results and some time playing around with the different functions and settings.

Are there any drawbacks?

Having lots of features is great but you’ll need to put some time aside to use them all. The set up is still easy but, like using all the features, it does take some time and persistence to use it to its fullest potential.

Are there alternative products available?

Smartphone gimbals don’t really come in different shapes but there are lots of options available from more or less any budget.
