Our Expert review of the Tile Mate Bluetooth Tracking Device
What would you use it for?
Always on the hunt for misplaced keys or wallet or even your phone? Everyone has at some point, whether your hands were full at the time or you’ve sat down and lost items down the sofa. The Tile Mate will help you find them without having to tear the house apart and you won’t be late in the process.
What’s good about it?
What’s better than 1 Tile Mate? Quite obviously it’s 4 Tile Mates! If you’re worried about losing your stuff when you’re out and about as well as at home, the Tile Mate is just for you. It’s loud, works with iOS and Android devices as well as Alexa and Google Assistant, and has a battery that lasts up to a year and can be replaced.
Are there any drawbacks?
It’s not a true GPS tracking device so if you lose/misplace something and go out of range while commuting for example, it relies on community location for you to find it. The idea is that the Tile community will spot it and mark it on the map so you can find it again. Tile did build in a failsafe of sorts, a 200ft range that should alert you if you start moving away from it.
Are there alternative products available?
Tile is probably the market leader in Bluetooth item finding devices/trackers. Like most smart tech, the market is awash with different products that offer the same functions with Apple and Samsung dropping their (expensive) devices in to the offering.
