Our expert review of the Circuit Scribe Drone Builder Kit
What would you use it for?
The Circuit Scribe Drone Builder kit is perfect for education.
What’s good about it?
It’s so easy to use and provides a great mix of learning of fun. The drone itself is modular so if the arms break it’s ok, they can be taken apart and put back together again out of whatever material you have to hand. The kit also provides a great platform for sparking that early interest in engineering and electronics. Circuit Scribe also have some great free learning tools on their website.
Are there any drawbacks?
While there isn’t much to not like about this kit, the circuits require a silver ink, which comes in the form of a pen. We don’t know exactly how long the ink will last for but with careful and sparing use it should last a while. It is also possible to buy more of the silver ink pens but they don’t come cheap. The kit doesn’t come with a separate controller, flying the drone is done solely from the app, which is available for Android and iOS devices so there isn’t too many restrictions but the actual flying can be a little tricky for beginners.
Are there alternative products available?
We haven’t been able to find any ourselves but that doesn’t mean there isn’t any at all. It’s easy to find different websites offering bespoke drone builds but they seem to be mega expensive.
