Our Expert review of the Vizio S2920W-C0 29” 2.0 Soundbar
What would you use it for?
Most standard television speakers aren’t all that great. The sound can be a bit flat and not especially immersive, especially for those films or sporting events that you want that extra atmosphere. This 29” Vizio soundbar is 29 inches long and while Vizio say it’s suitable for up to 32” TVs, we actually think it would still do a very good job for up to 40 inch TVs.
What’s good about it?
Lots of direct connectivity options including RCA, 3.5mm Aux In, digital coax and optical inputs mean that you’ll be able to connect it to your TV one way or another. It’s also Bluetooth enabled so can be used to stream music and is supplied with a remote control. Vizio also dialled up the sound in this soundbar but incorporating DTS TruSurround and DTS TruVolume. Both of these together will make you wonder how such high quality sound can come out of what is a relatively modest 29” soundbar. If you have a TV on the wall and are worried about having to move things around, don’t worry, this soundbar can also be wall mounted.
Are there any drawbacks?
Only a couple really, as with most soundbars the key consideration is the size of your TV and the size of the room the TV is currently in. In your average living room or bedroom this soundbar will excel but in larger entertaining rooms with larger than 40” TVs, we feel the Vizio would be found wanting.
Are there alternative products available?
Soundbars can be a bit of a minefield to navigate. There are many different sizes, with and without subwoofers, with different connectivity options for different prices from different brands. In short, yes there is a lot of choice.
