Our Expert review of the TrendGeek TG-SW2HR Smart Watch
What we think of the design:
It looks like a Fitbit doesn’t it. It also has that classic digital watch design so it’s not going to look like you are wearing anything other than a normal watch on your wrist. Radical designs are a thing of the past with smartwatches, there is simply no desire to have something that looks like anything other than a watch on your wrist. The TrendGeek smartwatch obviously offers far more than just the ability to tell the time without making a huge song and dance about it!
What’s good about it?
The TG-SW2HR has a surprising number features available and is also compatible with both Android and Apple devices. It’s accurate when tracking exercise and more accurate than not when sleep tracking. On the subject of exercise, one thing this smartwatch does have that similarly priced alternatives don’t is a heart rate monitor. You’ll need to make sure the watch is sitting correctly on your wrist but when it is you’ll get a detailed view on how your heart rate throughout the day. And finally, the biggest plus is the battery life. While the flagship smartwatches have batteries that can last somewhere between 3-5 days depending on use, it’s possible to eek the TrendGeek out over TWENTY days between charges! Yes 20!
Are there any drawbacks?
Compared to a lot of more recognised brand names the screen doesn’t have the best resolution though it is slightly larger than said competitor’s watches. There isn’t an option to install other 3rd party apps either, nor do you have the option to brighten up the watch by adding a different type or more colourful strap.
Are there alternative products available?
Unless you’ve been living under a rock it’s almost impossible to escape a world where everything is becoming “smart”, and that includes what you have on your wrist. There is a huge range of smartwatches available suiting a huge range of requirements and budgets.
