Our Specialist view of the HP LA2405WG 24” Widescreen Monitor
The Spec:
The widescreen 24” LA2405wg HP monitor is a 16:10 aspect ratio Full HD backlit display that boasts DisplayPort, DVI, VGA and USB connectivity. You can tilt and pivot the monitor on the stand as well as being able to rotate to portrait mode.
The Good Bits:
Its flexibility puts it as a solid all rounder but we believe it’s more than that. Yes it can go in to an office or a school or even at home but the quick response time, dynamic contrast ratio and impressive screen resolution make it a really good fit for anything graphics intensive. Put two side by side and boy would you have an impressive set up.
The Not So Good Bits:
Being a 24” monitor means the LA2405wg can take up quite a bit of space. If your work space is quite limited it may be worth considering some different mounting options. As mentioned above, this monitor does have 3 different video connections but the lack of a HDMI port, though not the end of the world, does mean using an adapter or different type of cable to connect to newer devices that only has HDMI.
The Design:
Aesthetically it still looks good with the thin bezels maximising the visible screen area. The stand is less so but it certainly enables the user to adjust to suit them and their desk. The ports are well placed and accessible on the underside of the monitor but the bonus here is the 2 USB ports on the left side. The user control buttons don’t feel the best quality but again, it’s a case of doing a job rather than looking pretty.
Suitability:
It’s a jack of all trades but on this occasion it does master one. Use it at home, put it in your office or even in a school, college or university and it will do a dam good job but if you want it to excel use it for photo and/or video editing.
