HP 2 in 1 Tablet Manufacturer Description
Our Specialist view of the HP Elite x2 1012 G1 2 in 1 Tablet
The Spec:
The HP Elite X2 1012 G1 refurbished tablet and laptop has the following specification: a 2 in 1 design that simply comprises of a 12 inch Full HD tablet with an Intel m5 dual core processor, 4GB RAM and a 128GB solid state drive (SSD) with Windows 10 Professional preinstalled. As well as that the tablet also has WiFi, Bluetooth, a full sized USB A (3.0) port, USB Type C with Thunderbolt, Headphone/Mic combo, a MicroSD card slot and front and rear cameras. Part 2 of the HP x2 is the detachable keyboard.
The Good Bits:
One thing you’ll notice very quickly with the HP x2 1012 is the keyboard. To be clear, that isn’t generally something you notice first when you’re hands on with a shiny new tablet. The keyboard is simply fantastic. It looks and feels like a standard laptop/notebook keyboard, especially with its responsive touchpad, which just isn’t something you expect to get from a tablet keyboard. The screen is also slightly above Full HD with its 1920 x 1280 LED BrightView IPS display. HP were also smart enough to add Cornering Gorilla Glass 4 for extra protection. The final touch that makes this tablet stand out is the Bang & Olufsen tuned audio.
The Not So Good Bits:
There isn’t much to complain about here bar the stand. Yes it is adjustable like its Microsoft Surface Pro cousins however it doesn’t seem quite as robust. That being said it won’t fall apart after a few uses, we’d just say don’t be too forceful with it.
The Design:
Used at home, in school or at the office, this tablet looks great. The Gorilla Glass 4 also makes it tougher and more protected from falls. The tablet itself isn’t lightweight but at the same time it isn’t gym weights heavy, it’s a decent balance between the two. We mentioned the kick stand above and how it isn’t quite as robust as the stand on the Surface Pro 4. What you won’t find is a really flimsy hinge though; it stands up well to having the tablet on your lap or a frictionless conference room table.
Suitability:
There is no doubt the HP Elite x2 is made with business professionals in mind but don’t let that put you off if you’re looking for a tablet to take to school/college or simply use at home.
