Our Expert view of the Homedics UV-CLEAN Phone Sanitisation Case
What we think of the design:
We’ve not come across this type of product before but getting hands on its compact and lightweight, just as Homedics claim. The pop up part of the case is sturdy and overall it’s super easy to us straight out of the box after a quick charge. The main this is that it doesn’t feel like it will be good for one or two uses and that’s that. The power button on top of the UV-CLEAN tells you when the case is charging, when the battery is low, when the case isn’t closed properly and when it’s sanitising.
What’s good about it?
In the sales copy Homedics talk about older smartphones such as the iPhone X and the Samsung Galaxy S8 so we were pleasantly surprised to find that UV-CLEAN will happily accept mobiles up to 6.7 inches, having tested iPhone 12, 13 and the Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus. It’s also so easy to use and can easily be taken out whenever you leave the house. A little added extra is that you can put bank cards, credit cards, keys and even your babies dummy after it’s been spat out for the hundredth time and lands on the floor. Homedics claim up to 70 uses between charges, which we haven’t been able to fully test but certainly seems possible.
Are there any drawbacks?
From what we can tell so far the only limitation it has is that if you own a phone larger than the iPhone 13 Pro Max, so for example the 6.9” Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, that will probably be a squeeze too far for the UV-CLEAN.
Are there alternative products available?
There are likely to be other products that harness the power of UV light to sanitise your phone but are they going to be as good as the Homedics UV-CLEAN, it’s difficult to say.
