Our Specialist view of the Lenovo ThinkPad T440p

The Spec:

The refurbished ThinkPad T440p has the following specification: The ‘Professional’ version of the ThinkPad T440 we have in stock. This laptop has a 14” display, an Intel Core i5 4^th Gen dual core processor, 8GB DDR3 RAM and a 500GB hard drive not SSD. The hard drive offers loads of storage space even after Windows 10 Professional has been installed. Unlike the ThinkPad T440, the T440p has a DVD-RW optical drive and fingerprint reader.

The Good Bits:

Lenovo make the T440p to last. The chassis offers durability while not adding huge bulk to the laptop and is also US military spec tested covering 8 different factors including high pressure, temperature and dust. Other innovative design features include Lenovo roll-cage technology. This isn’t something you would pick up from just looking at the laptop but just like a roll-cage in a car, you’d be grateful it’s there in an accident.

The Not So Good Bits:

It’s not quite as portable, thin and lightweight as its lesser spotted ThinkPad T440 and T440s cousins. With the addition of an optical drive, the T440p is bigger as a result of having to have a larger chassis and heavier as a result of the optical drive and the mechanical hard drive rather than an SSD. Otherwise there really is very little to pull this laptop up on other than the poorer battery performance because it’s a higher performance machine.

The Design:

Like the other T440 and T440s’s we stock, we love the T440p regardless of the additional weight and size. Lenovo built the T440p to those same standards and it’s just as nice to look at with the same great design features including larger trackpad, spill-resistant keyboard and US MIL-SPEC durability. The chassis houses all the ports we think would be needed.

Suitability:

If the p = Professional, it’s reasonable to surmise this laptop is suitable for the business professional. We think though, this laptop is also ideal for casual home user and student looking for a cheap feature full refurbished laptop.
