Excellent bit of kit,
Bought this to replace an HP inkjet all-in-one unit which was good but kept needing to have the cartridges cleaned as I don’t print very often – thus frustrating when you just want to turn it on and do a quick print. I had always wanted a laser printer (especially colour) but also didn’t want a separate scanner – thus this fitted the bill and also has a fax. I read quite a few reviews before taking the plunge and they all seemed to say the same things. i.e. the print quality is very good (I agree), the connectivity is good (yes – wi-fi, Ethernet, USB), the ADF is handy. The negatives they highlight are – expensive toner (negated by using the replacement IJT versions and the fact that this has 3 sets which will last me years!) and slow speed (compared to my inkjet this is way, way quicker). So really as a home user migrating from an inkjet there really aren’t any issues I can see. Some also mentioned the limited functionality (no auto duplex – but can be done manually – so not different to my old HP inkjet version; and not such a flashy control panel on the unit – oh what a hardship!) but you can admin it via a web interface if you need to (couldn’t do that on my inkjet – not that I really need to in a home set-up). The footprint of the unit is no bigger than the inkjet all-in-one it replaces (just a tad taller). Setting up via wi-fi was not as easy as some others but easy enough if you first link it via the WPS function on your router. One tiny detail to note is that it comes with 3 sets of IJT toners but not the original basic set of Dell ones (like you might expect in a boxed, new unit). This is one way that the cost is kept down it seems – again no hardship with 3 sets of IJT carts being included. Overall I am more than happy with this unit, its functionality, print quality and cost. If you are a home user migrating from an inkjet printer / all-in-one then absolutely no problems. Same if you are a small office. If you are a larger office you are probably looking at a different (more expensive) beast anyway which will be faster etc.. Delivery from Morgan was also good, advising a time slot on the day of delivery too by text.
This is a fantastic deal!,
This is a good printer - simple install wired and wireless network. Great quality print, and as a designer sending out loads of concepts etc, cheap to run. The scanner links seamlessly with Photoshop CS6 and provides good clean scans. The copy function is also very accurate. The only one thing negative I would add is that it is very slow when printing multi-page documents.
Great product and support from Morgan and Dell,
Does all it says on the can in true Ripolin style and proved to be very easy to set up - Dell in India were incredibly helpful on the fax protocal side. All workin really well - just hope the toners don't prove too expensive or hard to find! Have fun, Tim
Good deal for a small business or SOHO user,
This printer has a small footprint and does its job very well for the money you pay. Certainly appears to be cheap to run so far and produces very good images in B&W and colour. We use it as a workgroup Copier, scanner, printer and it performs admirably. Only issues so far are minor - scan speed is quite slow so copying takes a little longer and it doesn't hold much paper. Availability of a large capacity paper tray would really help here. But as I say these are minor gripes when you are paying this sort of money.
If it sounds too good to be true...,
This, however, isn't one of those instances where if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is. My fax machine was on its last legs and my broken scanner went to the tip last year so this multi-function replaced two machines and also has quite a small desktop footprint. I'm not using the wi-fi and I don't need another printer but I suppose it's always useful to have a back-up. As usual, you need to download the latest drivers from Dell and installation wasn't as straightforward as it should have been but one hour after unpacking, everything was working. Scanning is a doddle and it's useful to send faxes direct from the computer rather than the feed on the machine (although you can), the quality of the printer is as good as any I've had. As I said earlier, I don't use all the functions the machine is capable of but for those functions I do use, I'm highly delighted with the 1355CNW. This bundle is a bargain and at this price, you can afford to buy it as a backup for your existing fax, printer and scanner.
Amazing Value Laser All in One,
These must be the bargain of the year! Although the machine can be bought elsewhere for a similar cost, the 3 sets of toners means that you save a fortune (3 sets of Dell toners cost about £745, 3 sets of recycled about £180 at Morgan but much more elsewhere). The printer works very well and the software makes integration on a network or attachment by USB to a single computer easy. Print quality is excellent even colour photos (usually poor on lasers)are quite acceptable. I bought the 1350cnw from Morgan for my son (has the same print engine) and he is equally pleased.
