The Spec:                     

The Microsoft Surface Pro 5 we have is spec’d as follows: A 12.3 inch IPS multi-touch display with an Intel Core i5 7^th gen processor, 8GB RAM, a 256GB Solid State Drive, WiFi and Bluetooth, and Windows 11 Professional preinstalled. Now the basics are covered, the Surface Pro 5 also has a full sized USB 3.0 port, Mini DisplayPort, MicroSD card slot for memory expansion and is supplied with a UK language type keyboard.

The Good Bits:

It’s broadly considered the Surface Pro 4 is Microsoft’s most popular and most successful Surface tablets so that big question is, how can the Surface Pro 5 better it? The 5 retains most of the features we loved from the 4 like the awesome IPS high resolution display, the ports you wouldn’t normally find on a tablet and the adjustable kickstand. Added to this is a faster and newer processor, slightly rounded edges making the aesthetics a tad softer and an upgraded hinge to the kickstand that allows the 5 to lay almost flat.

The Not So Good Bits:

There is no doubt Surface Pro tablets are on the pricier side despite their size and addition of the Type keyboard means they can be used as a laptop. Doing any sort of upgrade to the RAM and hard drive is almost out of the question because there is no direct access and special tools are required to take the Surface Pro apart, which can often damage the screen. You can make even more of the Surface Pro 5 with the Surface Pen, included with this Surface Pro 5.

The Design:

The display is still excellent, the slight rounding of the edges and the more sunken strip of air vents, which are harder to see, overall leave a much more aesthetically pleased look to the Surface Pro 5. The improved kickstand is also a big plus; it feels more durable and can even allow the 5 to lay almost flat.

Suitability:

A tablet you’d probably want rather than need but that doesn’t stop the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 being ideal for a business professional, especially those that need to work while commuting.
