HP originally deployed the HP 650 G2 as a business ready solution, and in many respects it does deliver.

We like the large HD+ screen and other features like the separate number pad on the keyboard and we are impressed HP managed almost managed to get the weight down to sub 2 kilos.

HP also had the consideration to add ports that would support legacy hardware as well as new tech with VGA, USB Type C, DDR4 RAM and a M.2 solid state drive.

Our Specialist view of the HP ProBook 650 G2 laptop

The Spec:

The refurbished 15.6 inch HP ProBook 650 G2 notebook is spec’d as follows: as stated a 15.6” backlit HD plus screen along with a UK language keyboard with separate number pad. A large touchpad and 2 sets of left and right mouse buttons plus USB 3.0 and Type C, DisplayPort, VGA and more I/O ports. Underneath all that is a 6^th generation Intel i5 dual core processor, 8GB RAM with support for up to 32GB, a 256GB solid state drive plus the usual WiFi, Bluetooth, decent DTS Studio Sound audio and a webcam. Windows 10 Professional is preinstalled for a current Windows operating system.

The Not So Good Bits:

Being a ProBook from HPs business spec range we did expect it to have a backlit keyboard, though not essential to any point, it certainly helps when good natural lighting is available. We’d also hope for a screen with better colour reproduction but again we didn’t find this wasn’t off-putting.

The Design:

As with most HPs, especially of the ProBook range, it’s made of better materials that deliver a premium feel. It’s also military MIL-ST 810G tested so should always cope with a demanding workload.

Suitability:

A business spec laptop from HPs business spec product line, it would serve any professional really well.
