The Spec:

The refurbished Lenovo 15.6 inch W550s laptop has the following spec: A superb 3K IPS touchscreen display for starters and it only gets better from there. An Intel Core i7 processor, 16GB RAM, a 512GB Solid State Drive, HD Webcam, WiFi & Bluetooth connectivity, dual Nvidia 2GB discrete and Intel Integrated graphics with Windows 10 Professional preinstalled.

The Good Bits:

If we stop and ignore the obvious like the amazing 3K touchscreen, loads of RAM, a fast SSD, i7 processor and dual graphics, there is still numerous positives about this refurbished Lenovo W550s. Yes is very powerful and at the same time tough, Military grade 810G durable to be precise. That durability is reflected in the body strengthened by carbon fibre, which also looks great. We’ve not even touched on Lenovo’s claims of up to 20 hours battery life, which in reality will be less but you’ll get far more life between chargers than most other laptops. Finally, the dual graphics, Nvidia Quadro 2GB discrete card and Intel HD 5500 graphics is the cherry on top of the cream. 

The Not So Good Bits:

Laptops are getting lighter and lighter and to carry this Lenovo W550s that weight is noticed but we found ourselves quick to realise that this is still a 15.6” laptop. One other disappointing aspect of this laptop is the audio. Underwhelmed is very much the keyword here, which is even more disappointing given the rest of the spec.

The Design:

The design, rather unsurprisingly, is very similar to most Lenovo laptops of the same age but it’s important to remember “if it ain’t broke, don’t fit it”. The W550s looks professional and has the carbon fibre reinforced case with steel hinges. Well placed ports and a docking station connector add to the excellent overall design.

Suitability:

With a professional design and professional standard specs, we see this as a viable option for almost any business professional working from home or in the office.
