Our Specialist view of the Lenovo ThinkPad X260 laptop

The Spec:

The refurbished Lenovo ThinkPad X260 has the following spec: a newer 6th Generation Intel Core i5 processor, 8GB of faster DDR4 RAM and a fast 256GB Solid State Drive. Not forgetting built-in WiFi, a webcam, card reader, a HDMI port and Windows 10 Pro preloaded all brought together with a 12.5” HD screen.

The Good Bits:

We feel it’s important to point out again that Lenovo really haven’t changed much at all from the ThinkPad X240 to the X250 and now to the X260. It still superbly portable with innovative battery technology and has great build quality, though we wouldn’t expect less from Lenovo. This X260 however, has a newer generation of i5 processor, twice the amount of RAM and a fast SSD already installed. This really sets it apart from the X250.

The Not So Good Bits:

Ultimately it’s still only a 12.5” laptop with a combined 6 cell battery. Despite it been far newer than the X240 and X250, and offering a far better spec, it won’t be ideal for someone looking to create large documents or do any sort of design work unless of course you make use of the Mini DisplayPort or HDMI port to connect to an external display.

The Design:

See our ThinkPad X250 review, Lenovo essentially did a copy and paste here. We do however like the addition of a HDMI port and extra USB 3.0 port. A Big thumbs up to Lenovo, who have kept the excellent keyboard and touchpad.

Suitability:

It’s beefed up quite considerably with a newer processor, more RAM and a faster hard drive so we would feel confident recommending this to almost any business professional working on the road or perhaps hot desking in an office.
