The Philips SPC900NC is one of THE most sought after webcams for use in Astrophotography, due to the sensitive nature of the CCD it uses. Unfortunately, these are no longer available, but this spc880nc, has identical innards and the ability to render high quality images of the Moon and Planets. It can also be further modified for photographing deep sky objects such as Galaxies. The C.C.D. and circuits are identical to the SPC900NC.
This will function perfectly as a normal Webcam of if you are into your Astrophotography then you can now do it digitally, at a fraction of the cost.

Customer Reviews
Sooper!!!,
Bought one, seemed a shame to break it up for the 'scope, so bought another one. Easy to flash, worked first time, excellent camera. Not used it yet for sky pics, but hoping to try it soon. I'm over the MOON....pun.

Excellent,
I already had 2 of these in use and at this price I couldn't resist and got 2 more. The unit, when flashed to an SPC-900 model, works great with Linux. I use them regularly with Skype and as a security system with Motion. The webcam works very well in low light conditions and still delivering a good picture, making it simply perfect for motion detection. You can not go wrong with these.

Philips SPC880/900 webcam for astro-photography.,
Morgan mentioned for Philips SPC880 in online astronomy forum. Price was excellent. Purchased camera, flash upgrade to SPC900, filter and 1.25 inch adapter. No problems fitting adapter. Downloaded XP driver from Philips website. Clear sky two nights ago, and got my first ever astro-photograph - of Jupiter. Used SharpCap and Registax 6 to produce final image.

SPC - pre flashed,
Great price and delivery, driver readily available. What more could you ask for.

Philips SPC880 ideal for astronomy,
When flashed as a SPC900 become a great CCD for astronomy. As internal parts are absoluty identical as SPC900, long exposure and ampli off are very easy to made

How easy is this...,
After getting inspired by the BBC Astronomy Live programme I''''d searched the web and found Morgan''''s great webcam and adaptor. So easy to setup - this was my first result http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/13914198 - ok a little unfocussed but that was just me and the scope (it was a bit exciting).

Just waiting for more clear skies...
You can''''t fault Morgan for the service and the price!
