Our Specialist view of the Dell Latitude 5300 laptop
The Brand New Dell Latitude 5300 has the following spec: a 13.3” HD Anti-Glare screen with an Intel Core i5 8th generation quad core processor, 8GB of faster DDR4 RAM, a 128GB Solid State Drive, a webcam, WiFi and Bluetooth with Windows 10 Professional preinstalled. The big added bonus for this Dell laptop is that it supports Windows 11 through end user upgrade making this ideal for business and education.
The Good Bits:
A bit of a reverse play for us given our speciality in refurbished and end of line 2nd user stock that this Dell E5300 is brand new and carries a 3 year warranty. Microsoft’s latest operating system Windows 11 has also seen its big release this year with certain minimum spec requirements including an 8th generation processor and TPM 2.0, which the Dell Latitude 5300 has both of so the end user can upgrade from Windows 10 to 11 as and when it suits. All the usual stuff as standard like WiFi, a webcam, USB and Ethernet plus a backlit keyboard, newer and faster USB 3.1 & Type C plus HDMI for your peripherals.
The Not So Good Bits:
Probably missing a full HD or better screen that it really deserves rather than the just the HD screen it has and being greedy a separate number pad on the keyboard. The storage capacity is on the smaller side and the particular type of SSD that’s in it, PCIe, is more expensive than a typical 2.5 inch SSD.
Brilliantly portable and lightweight, the 5300 offers excellent flexibility because it has a decent sized screen and weighs less than 1.3 kilos. As well as being light it’s also thin so will fit easily in more or less any bag. There are also plenty of up to date ports conveniently located around the sides of the laptop.
Dell themselves market it for professionals, which we would agree with, whether it’s for office based or working from home.
