Information on this product

Pocket Size Portable Rechargeable Bluetooth GPS   Reciever for use with mobile phones, laptops, netbooks etc.

The CoPilot BT GPS comes with SiRF IIe/LP support and can run in both NMEA and SiRF mode. It's size is virtually the same as the Emtac/Socket BT GPS Receivers which means it is small and lightweight. The CoPilot BT GPS also sports an external MCX antenna socket on the right hand side of the receiver, and below the LED's is a whole for a safety strap. One thing Lutz does is have the GPS Receiver hanging on a cord around his neck when outdoors (there's a little opening for that on the receiver similar to the way you can carry digital cameras around). On the base of the receiver are two non-slip rubber strips to help keep the receiver in position when traveling in-car.

Connecting to the GPS
Getting the Pocket PC to connect to the CoPilot BT GPS was straight forward, creating a Bluetooth bond/pairing the Pocket PC and BT GPS together using the passkey 0183 created a successful bond.
These are New items with a 12 month warranty. They are supplied "Bulk Packaged" so no external retail box. They come supplied with a 12v In-Car charger.

It works.. what more can I say?, 06 August 2010

Paired this device with my Sony Ericsson W960i mobile (using Bluetooth passkey ''''0183'''' as mentioned above). No problems. Ran GPSed (a free app - www.gpsed.com) on my phone. It worked well with little trouble
Perhaps not quite as accurate as a modern dedicated GPS device, but, at a tenth of the price or less, not bad. Quite adequate enough to give the average recreational walker a continuous readout of distance, speed and direction of track in real time.
If you have a Bluetooth-enabled phone that will run suitable software, you could spend a lot more and do no better.
